Focus: getting a baseline
No history yet, so this session samples every subject.
Subjects
Practise
Pick a subject, then narrow to topics if you like. Calculation problems are generated fresh each time; work them on your nav computer and check the worked solution.
Mock exam
Twenty questions from one subject, timed, with no feedback until the end. The CAA pass mark is 70%. Aim for 85% or better on two mocks before booking the real paper.
Mock exam
The clock counts up. Treat it like the exam room: no notes, nav computer only.
Review
Study plan
A suggested order for the subjects. Each card lists the syllabus topic areas to read in your textbook; tick them off as you finish. A subject is ready when every topic is green in Progress and you have two mock exams at 85% or better.
Exam-day habits
- Write down every given value before touching the computer, then sanity-check the answer: a tailwind should raise ground speed, and wind from the right should put the heading right of track.
- Label every direction true or magnetic. Most navigation marks are lost converting at the wrong step.
- Round only at the end. Carry full numbers through multi-step fuel, time and weight and balance problems.
- Read every option before choosing. Exam distractors are usually half right.
- Chart work and flight-plan papers need practice on a real VNC. Do at least three full nav logs before sitting navigation.
- Confirm the current syllabus, permitted equipment and exam format with ASPEQ and the current AC61-3 and AC61-5 before booking.
Progress
Accuracy over your last 20 attempts in each topic. Anything under 75% is marked weak and gets extra weight in Today's session.
